Protecting Athletes and Families
Version 1.1 · September 2026Pathlete holds information about children. We treat that as the most serious thing we do. This page explains, without jargon, what we hold, who can see it, and the specific decisions we made to keep it safe. Including the ones that made the product harder to build.
Coaches never receive your contact details
This is the most important protection on the platform, so it comes first.
A Coach browsing the Discovery Platform can see an Athlete’s name, position, club, age group, city and state, their verified Pathlete Score and their match film. That is all. A Coach never receives an email address, a phone number, a home address, an exact date of birth, a school name, or a guardian’s name, not before contact, not after, not ever.
Every message from a Coach runs through Pathlete, inside the NCAA contact windows, and every attempt is recorded. If a Coach account were ever compromised, it would give an attacker no way to contact a single child directly. That is the point.
What we deliberately never collect
The safest data is data that does not exist. We do not collect:
- Home addresses. A guardian’s email is enough to reach a Family.
- School names. A city, a club and a school together can locate a child in person.
- Card numbers. When payment opens, it is handled entirely by Stripe. Card details never touch a Pathlete server, so there is nothing for us to lose.
- Facial recognition. Match film is tagged by jersey number only. We do not collect, store or process facial geometry or any other biometric identifier.
- Athlete social handles. They serve no evaluation purpose and create a route around our contact controls.
Who at Pathlete can see what
Staff access is granted by role, never person by person, and it is deliberately narrow. Contact details are hidden by default even from our own team. A staff member has to deliberately reveal a record, and every reveal is recorded against their name.
Exporting personal data is separated from reading it. Any bulk export requires a second senior approval with a written reason, and anything involving Families of children under 13 requires that approval at any size.
Film and photography
Match film belongs to the Athlete. Links to video and photographs expire and are tied to the person viewing them. A link cannot be forwarded and left working. A guardian can request that film or photography be removed at any time.
Younger Athletes, and Athletes outside Year 1
Pathlete Combines start at 14, and Year 1 fields the 2011 and 2009 age groups only. When a Family reaches our reservation form with an Athlete outside those age groups, we hold the details they entered together with the region they chose, and we email the guardian once a Combine opens for that age group near them. We do not sell these details, and we do not share them with any outside organisation. We do not market to a child. A guardian can ask us to delete the record at any time and we act on it.
Your rights, and how to use them
A parent or guardian can ask us at any time to show everything we hold about their Athlete, correct anything that is wrong, or delete the account entirely. Email privacy@pathletesports.com and we will answer within the timeframe your state requires, and faster where we can.
If something ever goes wrong
We maintain an incident plan with a named owner. If a breach ever affected your Family’s information, we would tell you directly and promptly, not bury it in a notice.
Questions about any of this? Email privacy@pathletesports.com. A person answers.
Pathlete Sports does not guarantee recruiting outcomes, scholarship offers, or college placement. The Pathlete platform provides verified performance data and visibility tools designed to support Athlete development and Coach discovery. Outcomes depend on individual Athlete performance, eligibility, and Coach evaluation criteria.
